Energy Efficient Garage Doors
These garage doors are designed to reduce the heat exchange between the garage environment and the outdoor environment. When it is cold outside, the garage will be warmer and vice versa. With such doors, property owners can use less energy for heating and cooling and reduce the energy bills which they pay.

The energy efficient garage doors have layered design. The most basic models have two layers - steel layer and insulation layer. The more advanced models have three-layer design with the insulation material being set between two steel layers. The most widely used garage door insulation materials are polyurethane and polystyrene. The different doors have different levels of energy efficiency depending on the number of layers in the construction and the thickness of the insulation material. The measure for this is the R-value. It shows the thermal resistance of each model. The higher the R-value is, the more energy-efficient the door is.
